1. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Accounting convention |
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the |
Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective January 2015). |
Turnover |
Turnover represents income from services supplied in the areas of the company's principal activities, net of value |
added tax. |
Tangible fixed assets |
Land and buildings | - |
Plant and machinery etc | - |
Stocks |
Stocks and work in progress are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance |
for obsolete and slow moving items. |
Cost includes all direct expenditure and an appropriate proportion of fixed and variable overheads. |
Deferred tax |
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance |
sheet date. Deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that the directors consider that it is more likely |
than not that there will be suitable taxable profits from which the underlying timing differences can be deducted. |
Deferred tax is measured at the rates that are expected to apply in the periods in which the timing differences |
reverse and is not discounted. |
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits |
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension |
scheme are charged to the profit and loss account in the period to which they relate. |
Government grants/assistance |
Government grants in respect of capital expenditure are credited to a deferred income account and are released to |
the profit and loss account by equal annual instalments over the expected useful lives of the relevant assets. |
Grants of a revenue nature are credited to the profit and loss account in the same period as the related |
expenditure. |
