Leeannas Wish is a community interest company based in Cottonmill, St Albans. Leeannas Wish is a black female led organisation which provides support for protected groups living in and around the local area. We have a variety of different local projects, with our core missionto engage, empower and promote social interaction through our intergenerational programmes. We have a long list of community champions and are proud to have been awarded the followingcommendations: Mayor's Pride Awards 2022 - Points of Light Awards 2023 - BBC Make A Difference Awards 2023Our current beneficiaries are made up of the groups disproportionately affected by the cost of greed crisis. Working poor, people of pension age, people from minoritized communities and those experiencing mental ill health. The overarching theme across all projects is a focus on improved health and wellbeing outcomes for people with one or more protected characteristics. We have developed our Partnerships with External Agencies such as the local authority and other relevant external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding and access to appropriate support services. We continue to hold a number of weekly projects including coffee morning sessions at the Cottonmill Community Centre. This is an intergenerational, cross culture provision. Reinforcing this project's impact, we run monthly last Friday of the month community nights designed to promote social inclusion, and community cohesion. We have collaborated with Hertfordshire Health walks to promote living well, for longer. Many of the people that we come across experience loneliness and isolation. Our Saturday club has successfully seen young people complete the 'Duke of Edinburgh’ award and enter the peer youth mentor programme. We also held an exhibition in central St Albans at the Collective Art Gallery, ensuring our young people understand the value in arts and craft. Last winter we held a very successful child focused warm space which included a film screening. We have increased sports and exercise opportunities in the local community. One of our most successful projects, Empower , promotes mental and physical wellbeing for Women aged30 plus. Launched in September 2022, the aim of this project is to empower women in our local community through football. Empower aims to improve confidence and fitness and cultivate camaraderie and improved relationships. We welcome women from all faiths andbackgrounds and all levels of fitness and ability. No football experience is necessary.Sessions are provided free of charge.
Leeannas Wish key stakeholders are the young people, individuals and families that we serve in St Albans. Other stakeholders include our volunteers and key partners. We are committed to consulting with our stakeholders and, where required, acting in response to feedback. Two examples of this include extending the provision of cake and biscuits to bacon rolls at our coffee morning. We are also in consultation about producing a football kit in response to anumber of requests from our #Empower participants. One of our organisation’s key values is that we listen and act on our community's requests.
