The company work to prevent legal challenges within the population of UK and particularly people living in London in the benefits of their health and well being.The promotion of fairer access to justice for the public benefit byby providing an affordable General legal advice to the population of UK, in particular people living in London.This is in addition to raising awareness of their legal right and facilitate their access to court. Conducting or commissioning research on Legal issues and publishing the results to the public. The company promote human right in West Africa particularly in Ivory Coast. The Company activities started in 2018. During the financial year 2018-2019, Citizens' Friend' activities have benefited the community in the following ways:- local residents (particularly those without access to legal aid ) have been able to get advice and support with their legal challenges.This was achieve either by visiting our clients in their residents, local library, local cafe or via telephone.- Citizens' Friend provided 2 voluntary position for local residents and 1 part time position.- 50 students were able to get help with their immigration, housing and consumer issues. As a result they secure their accommodation with private landlords and successfully renewed their residence in the UK.-10 Local residents were able to secure a job with our support.- 60 households have been visited to help housing, social care and domestic issues.
London and Portsmouth. One of the director o f the company lives in London and another in Portsmouth the company for a number of years so the company was set up based on their experience of talking to other residents.We ask people about the challenges they are facing in their daily life and how they manage to address them. We develop questionnaire and distributed 100 in London and 50 in Portsmouth to our local residents.Some stated that they choose to ignore them as they can not afford to get a lawyer or an accountant to help them. Some of them also suggested that they were not aware of services that could help them with their legal problems. Most of the respondents welcome the idea and will be happy to call for our support.Our questionnaire revealed that Every day, people face legal problems where they need to be able to get the right advice and support as soon as possible. This include a parent trying to secure contact with their child, a disabled person or a family who has had their benefits wrongly cut, or an immigrant or illegal immigrant who is trying toregularise his immigration status.
