2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements |
Significant judgements and estimates |
In the application of the company's accounting policies, the director is required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates. |
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future periods. |
There are no significant judgements or estimates involved in the preparation of the financial statements. |
Cash and cash equivalents |
Cash and cash equivalents in the statement of financial position comprise cash at banks and in hand and short term deposits with an original maturity date of one month. |
Cash equivalents are defined as short-term, highly liquid investments that are readily convertible to known amounts of cash and that are subject to an insignificant risk of changes in value. |
Income and deferred tax |
Income tax expense represents the sum of the tax currently payable and deferred tax. The tax currently payable is based on taxable profit for the year. The Company's liability for current tax is calculating using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period. |
Deferred tax is recognised on material timing differences between carrying amounts of assets and liabilities in the financial statements and the corresponding tax bases used in the computation of taxable profit. |
Deferred tax liabilities are generally recognised for all taxable timing differences. Deferred tax assets and liabilities are measured at the tax rates that are expected to apply in the period in which the liability is settled or the asset is realised, based on tax rates that have been enacted by the end of the reporting period. |
Current or deferred tax for the year is recognised in profit or loss, except when they relate to items that are recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. |
Financial instruments |
Basic financial instruments are recognised at amortised cost, except for investments in non-convertible preference and non-puttable ordinary shares which are measured at fair value, with changes recognised in profit or loss. Derivative financial instruments are initially recorded at cost and thereafter at fair value with changes recognised in profit or loss. |
