Basis of preparing the financial statements |
Turnover |
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. |
Tangible fixed assets |
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows: |
Office equipment | 33.33% on straight line |
Computer equipment | 33.33% on straight line |
Stocks |
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items. |
Taxation |
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. |
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. |
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. |
Deferred tax |
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. |
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. |
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. |

Research and development |
Expenditure on research and development is written off in the year in which it is incurred. |
Going concern |
The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis. The company has incurred losses during the period and the directors are aware that the statement on financial position shows net liabilities. The directors have considered the continuing disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and have taken account of the impact the phased re-opening of society will have on the business. They will continue to support the company and have reasonable expectations that the performance of the company will improve once the research and development stage has been completed and the restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic have been lifted. The directors believe that the company will have sufficient resources available to allow it to meet its obligations, if and when, they become due. It is on this basis that the directors are of the opinion that the company should continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements. |
Share based payments |
The company operates an equity-settled compensation plan. The fair value of the employee services received in exchange for the grant of the options is recognised as an expense. The total amount to be expensed over the vesting period is determined by reference to the fair value of the options granted, excluding the impact of any non-market vesting conditions (for example, profitability and sales growth targets). Non-market vesting conditions are included in assumptions about the number of options that are expected to vest. At the date of each statement of financial position, the entity considers its estimates of the number of options that are expected to vest. It recognises the impact of the revision to original estimates, if any, in the income statement. The credit entry is taken to reserves because the share options are equity-settled. |
