1 Accounting Policies
Basis of measurement and preparation of accounts
The financial statements are prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective January 2015).
Turnover policy
On cases were a percentage of damages awarded is added to the fee cost, revenue is recognised once the settlement has been agreed. For cases where the fee is a fixed amount revenue is recognised upon acceptance of liability.
Tangible assets depreciation policy
Computer equipment 33% straight line
Fixtures, fittings & equipment 25% reducing balance
Other accounting policies
The financial statements are prepared in accordance with applicable United Kingdom Accounting
Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice), which have been applied
consistently (except as otherwise stated).
Leasing
Rentals payable under operating leases are charged against income on a straight line basis over the lease term.
Deferred taxation
Deferred taxation is provided in full in respect of taxation deferred by timing differences between the treatment of certain items for taxation and accounting purposes. The deferred tax balance has not been discounted.
Financial instruments
Financial instruments are classified and accounted for, according to the substance of the contractual arrangement, as either financial assets, financial liabilities or equity instruments. An equity instrument is any contract that evidences a residual interest in the assets of the company after deducting all of its liabilities.
