NOTES TO THE ABBREVIATED ACCOUNTS |
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 APRIL 2015 |
|
1. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
|
Basis of preparing the financial statements |
The company meets its day to day working capital requirements through a combined invoice finance facility |
with credit protection. The facility has a six month notice period. |
The nature of the company's business is such that there can be considerable unpredictable variation in the |
timing of cash flows. The directors have undertaken to continue to financially support the company to the |
maximum of £1,100,000 for a period of 12 months from the date of their approval of these accounts. The |
directors have agreed not to pursue repayment of this amount until the company has sufficient funds to do so. |
On this basis, the directors consider it appropriate to prepare the financial statements on the going concern |
basis. |
|
Accounting convention |
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the |
Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective April 2008). |
|
Exemption from preparing a cash flow statement |
Exemption has been taken from preparing a cash flow statement on the grounds that the company qualifies as |
a small company. |
|
Turnover |
Turnover represents net invoiced sales of goods, excluding value added tax. |
|
Tangible fixed assets |
|
|
Fixtures and fittings | - |
|
Motor vehicles | - |
|
|
Stocks |
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and |
slow moving items. |
|
Deferred tax |
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the |
balance sheet date. |
|
Foreign currencies |
Assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the |
balance sheet date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate of exchange |
ruling at the date of transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating |
result. |
|
Hire purchase and leasing commitments |
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to the profit and loss account on a straight line basis over the |
period of the lease. |
|
Revenue recognition |
Revenue is recognised as earned when, and to the extent that, the company obtains the right to consideration |
in exchange for the supply of goods and services that it provides. It is measured at the fair value of the right to |
consideration, which represents amounts chargeable to customers. |
